The Encounter Weekend
After Several years of pastoring Michelle and I noticed that a lot of the new and old converts were carrying spiritual baggage that God never intended a convert to be carrying. This excess baggage was keeping them from walking the Spirit filled life. They were living in such bondage, they never experienced the normal Christian life. Many of them had accepted the sub normal Christian life as the normal Christian life. They had never come to know the ‘abundant life’ Jesus promised in John 10:10. This is what cause us to write material for “The Encounter Weekend’. This was a weekend of spiritual cleansing, and filling that Jesus expected would happen when we were saved, but never did.
The Encounter Weekend, is not about volleyball, games, hanging out and having fun. It is an intense weekend of Bible study, deliverance, forgiveness, inner healing, and restoration. It is a weekend filled focused on getting God’s kids cleaned up, freed up, filled up and ready to go back home and serve God the normal way.
I have written a workbook of about eighty pages (80) that each attendee receives at the Encounter. It is the fill in the blank kind of workbook. Each person who attends has people fasting for them back at home. Each person attending will have several people praying for them a month before they attend. Each person pray and or fasting for the attendee will also write them a letter and share things God has put on their heart for them. We will have a day where they will go off by themselves and pray, read their letters and have communion. This is always a highlight and life changing event.
When they return we try to have the people who have prayed for them to meet them as they arrive back to church. This is the welcoming party. IT is so awesome to hear the testimonies the following Sunday from those who went.
