Six Weeks in Africa

Our last trip to Africa was the best so far. We were so blessed to see 637 professions of faith and too many healing’s and miracles to count. We are so thankful to those who have prayed for us and supported us financially. It is because of you we are able to reach the Maasai. We want you to know that each person we share the Gospel with, is the direct results of your help. God has given us tremendous favor with the Maasai tribe. This favor is opening doors for us to reach and teach to a greater extent in Maasai land. It seems as though each trip opens up more doors for us to have a greater impact on more people.

We are now at a church in Rosenberg helping reach the city. we will be here for a few months until we have a great working evangelism team. We have seen over 100 profession of faith and many baptized. Pray for us as we seek to gain support to continue the work here.

Our next trip will be in October. We are planning a huge Maasai Leadership Conference. We will be training pastors on evangelism, preaching, Bible study and so much more. Many of the Maasai pastors don’t even have a Bible. We are trusting God to be able to provide Bibles for the pastors who need one. By doing the conference for all Maasai leaders and pastors we will be able to reach the Maasai from Nairobi to Tanzania. We will also be going out to the bush and reaching those who do not have the opportunity to hear the Gospel. We are asking God to provide us with shoes to give away. Shoes are such a big need in the remote areas of Kenya. Michelle and I will also be traveling to Uganda to do a three (3) day crusade. Then we will return to Nairobi to do more outreaches.

Please continue to pray for us as we attempt to do the impossible. What is impossible for man is possible for God. We need your prayers and are thankful for those of you who stand with us. We rejoice in sharing the eternal rewards with you. In the end, the eternal rewards are the only things that will live forever. We love you and thank God for you.

Don & Michelle

Jesus influenced his disciples in great ways. You can see this in the few who participated in the writing of the New Testament. The apostle Paul had a huge influence in the lives of the people around him. Today we are to have influence in the people who surround us. We should be challenging people toward a Kingdom mindset, in our circle of influence. You never know how far reaching that influence can go. Michelle and I have heard from people who we ministered to years ago, who are in the mission field, pastors, great Christian business leaders and so on. By our willingness to take time with people, we have touched thousands of more lives. Many of whom we will never meet.

Here you will see a picture of people that took time to influence my life. Gene Frank, the man who was preaching when I gave my heart and life to Jesus. He also became my first pastor. Jerry Burke, the man who was used by God to witness to me, and get me to church where I met Jesus. He also helped me to understand the Christian life. Jerry’s brother, David Burke, had known the Lord for quite some time when I surrendered to Jesus. He was a great teacher and helped me to press on in Jesus. Jim and Sharon Hardaway pastured First Baptist Church, Van Vleck, TX, where I preached my first week long revival and had my first full time paid position.

From left to right: Jim Hardaway, Gene Frank, Jerry Burke, David Burke, me, and Sharon Hardaway.

Because of men and women who were willing to spend time with me, and mentor me, Michelle and I have gone on to see well over 90,000 people pray to receive Christ as Lord and Savior. When these people were giving their time and energy to pour into my life they had no idea the outcome of their influence.

You have no idea of how far reaching your influence will go. Perhaps spending time over lunch or coffee with a young believer or minister may end up having a world wide impact on other lives.

Gospel tracts have been used by great men and women of God in the past. William Carey, Hudson Taylor, Martin Luther, the Wesley’s, Billy Graham and hundreds of others. Today it is still a powerful tool. R.A Torry wrote a great paper on using gospel tracts. You can look at it on the internet. Many people oppose use of tracts in our present society. Usually these are people who do not share Christ on a regular basis. Maybe they should try using gospel tracts. Get a few and just try smiling at someone and handing them a tract that shares the good news. It will do you good.

‘The Cross” by Athur Blessitt, will blow your mind. It is the story of a friend of mine who has carried the cross around the world and touch the lives of kings of the world as well as the poorest of the world. I know him personally and can attest to the fact this man is the real deal. You will rarely meet a man who loves Jesus as he does has stayed nonreligious. He has been an inspiration to my life. Read of the miracles, powerful testimonies, well known people who have carried the cross with him and much more. When I was a pastor, I had Arthur in our church and was privileged to ordain his son to the ministry. Joshua (Aruthur’s son) carries a cross as an evangelist in Norway. This is a must read if you like to read stories that lift your faith. You can also see the movie, ‘The Cross’.
